Karachi. The recent of Auditor General of Pakistan report Shows that Pakistan Railways Department is indulged in the embezzlement of a huge amount; the embezzled sum is estimated to be about Rs. 93. AGP reports that misappropriation, irregularities, mismanagement and operational inefficiencies have been observed in Pakistan Railway department.
The annual audit report, 2016-2017, on Pakistan Railway unveiled a shocking sum of fund embezzlement which finds out 12 cases which are involved in Railway material theft- valued to 178 Million Rupees- and a land area of Pakistan Railway has encroached which is worth of Rs 68.071 Billion.
The report also added that an amount worth of Rs 302.49 billion has been paid for overtime duty without any clear justification.
On the recommendation Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) says that Director Property and Land should make arrangements in collaboration with the Inspector General Railway Police in order to retrieve the encroached lands and other embezzled funds.
In addition, the AGP report spotlights that the auditing has founded various financial irregularities, mismanagement and operational inefficiencies which are causing to the greater scale of mal practices in the department for which asked for committed actions.
Remember, in the previous year in March 2016, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also decided to prepare a number of cases against the Pakistan Railways on being indulged in corruption and mal practices and a team of NAB officials had met with Railways Secretary Perween Agha in Islamabad for consultations in this regard.
Unfortunately, these mal practices are destroying the institutions at a greater scale.
