Beijing: The son of one of the China’s founding fathers, XI Jinping has been named as the head of China’s new communist leadership, with this he is also been elected as the next President of China, foreign news reports said. He will also be the new Supreme Commander of the Chinese armed forces.
Xi Jinping was announced as the new general secretary of the Communist Party today, bringing an official end to the 10-year time in power of President Hu Jintao.
The newly appointed President and Head of China’s communist leadership is the son of a communist revolutionary who was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution. His father, former vice-premier Xi Zhongxun, fought together with Mao Zedong in the Chinese civil war. He will take the hold of the office early next year.
He belongs to the party’s ‘princeling’ generation, the sons and daughters of China’s original communist revolutionaries. He has a blunt political style and married to famous singer Peng Liyuan.
