94 year old Harriette Thompson has become the oldest woman to finish half marathon, which she succeeded to complete after 3 hours, 42 minutes and 56 seconds.
What’s more amazing is that she has survived cancer twice and is still living a healthy life which is a great example for our new generation. This is not the first time that she has came into media rather in 2015 she set the world record of becoming world oldest women to complete a full marathon.
She completed the marathon with her sons Sydnor & Brenneman who are of 63 & 58 years. Her granddaughter Angela also accompanied her in the marathon, she is 32 years old.
She started taking part in marathon from 1999 when she signed up for a cancer society. She lost many family members because of cancer, and she herself experienced the deadly disease and wanted to play her part.
Because of her struggle she raised $13,000 this year alone for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. World’s biggest society for blood cancer.
