Riyadh: Temperatures in Saudi Arabia could hit an excruciating 70° Celsius over the next two months, Saudi Arabic daily Al-Watan has reported.While the meteorologist department has termed the news as false.
According to Saudi astronomer Dr. Khalid Al Zaaq from the Arab Federation for Space Science, this summer is expected to be exceedingly hot in the Kingdom over the next 60 days, with temperatures reaching 70° C under direct sunlight and 50° C in the shade.
Temperature can reach 70° C in open and desert areas as well as mountainous terrain, according to the report.
Al Zaaq also said that this coming Friday, June 22, will be the longest day in the year in Saudi Arabia. Average summer temperatures in Saudi Arabia can typically reach 45° C with highs of 54° C.
However,the meteorologists have said that the temperature may be recorded from 43° C to 44° C in various cities of the country as per the climatic details of the month.It is stated that in Jeddah the temperature can be recorded as 50° C to 51° C.
