Kohistan: Six young Kohistani men made history by becoming the first ever men to reach the remote Supat valley on motorcycles. Their feat is remarkable because of the extremely rugged terrain of the region and the absence of any kind of paved road but the motivated group from the village Dasu managed to reach the largest plain on high altitude in the district.
The group included Ehsan Ayub, Sabbar Shah, Rehmat Nabi, Nazeerur Rehman, Khanzada and Habibur Rehman from Dasu which is located around 100 kilometres from Supat. Sabbar Shah was the one who convinced his friends to visit the valley after he had gone there the previous year on foot and became inspired by its beauty. The group decided to do it in a different way and decided to go by motorcycles.
The journey proved to be very difficult because of the terrain and almost made the young men quit and return home but they eventually overcame their fears. The valley is at a high altitude and the bikers faced a real danger of falling into one of the thousand feet gorges that come in the way and on top of that two of the bikes stopped working midway but luckily one of the members was able to fix them.
The young Kohistani men were greeted with roses upon their return to their village. They urged the government to pay attention to the valley and its immense potential as a tourist spot. If proper roads are constructed in the area the journey which took them two days could be covered in a few hours and the area could become one of the most popular destinations in Pakistan.
