Karachi: One of the leading umpires in International Cricket, Australia’s Simon Taufel has announced to retire from the Cricket world on Wednesday citing unknown reasons. The International Cricket Council has also confirmed the news regarding his early retirement from the game, sources informed.
According to the sources, the ongoing World Twenty20 will be his last ICC tournament of his long 13 year umpiring career.
Simon James Arthur Taufel, 41, has so far umpired in 74 Tests from 2000-present, 173 ODI matches while he also administered 26 T20 matches from 2007.
Taufel won the ICC Umpire of the Year for the first five years of its existence (2004–2008). His winning run was broken in October 2009, when Aleem Dar of Pakistan won the ICC Umpire of the Year award.
