Saeed Ajmal’s Academy has been closed due to security concerns. The security agencies reported possible security threat to the academy, after which the academy has been closed for the time being. The academy will be opened after the holidays are over. The security authorities have cautioned Saeed Ajmal to collect the data of all the personnel involved in the academy and that every staff member and registered players should have their own security card. Other authorities have also been contacted regarding this matter and to strengthen the security around the academy.
Ajmal had stated that he had closed the academy after meeting up with the deputy commissioner of Faisalabad and the vice chancellor of the agriculture university on whose lands the academy is located. The government has issued warnings of possible terrorist threats to various educational institutions across the country after the tragic attack on the army public school in Peshawar. Ajmal informed that currently 198 boys and girls were training at the academy that also included disabled children as well.
About 80 staff members were also coming to the academy on and off for coaching clashes. Ajmal said that he didn’t want to take a risk with the boys and girls of his academy. He said that the government is helping us prepare a comprehensive security plan for the academy including issuance of computerized identity cards for all the participants, coaches and workers at the academy. He also added that this academy was his dream and that he had spent about 30 million rupees on it. The academy provides free coaching to youngsters.
