Karachi: Renowned International metal sculpture Amin Gulgee orchestrated another live performance at his gallery on Wednesday.” Riwahyti:-One Night Stand” brought together filmmakers, actors, architects, musicians, event managers and photographers to do a creative and interactive live performance on the theme. “Performance work has been a part of my art practice. For this happening, I have included plastic artists as well as musicians, filmmakers, actors, architects and people associated with fashion. Performance is very much part of our lives in South Asia as births, marriages and deaths are all public events.” Amin Gulgee.
Guests were amused by the 21 beautifully curated performances which took place simultaneously in different parts of Gulgee’s gallery. The highlight of the evening was Catwalk Productions’ Red Carpet, based on the famous quote of Anday Warhol, “In the future everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes.” The concept of the Catwalk’s red carpet was to create a composition that makes everybody feel like a star with an art direction of red carpet, photographer, media wall, camera crew and audience.
The black umbrella theme, orchestrated by Muzzumil Ruheel proved to be shockingly interesting for the guests as he tagged along with guests with a black umbrella in his hand, depicting forced relationships people make to achieve their hidden agendas. Angeline Malik performed on “With Oneself” theme, watching herself on a projector performing different scenes from a bystander’s point of view.
