Karachi: A 3-day Polio Vaccination campaign will commence from 23rd April and last till 25th April to eradicate this disease from the society, Deputy-Commissioner Karachi South Mustafa Jamal Kazi announced on Saturday. He asked the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) residents to collaborate in the upcoming polio vaccination campaign as they generally resisted such visits due to security concerns.
Presiding over a review meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee South, Jamal Kazi said that the private schools that became hurdle in the campaign would be countered under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
350 teams have been formed to manage drops to 1, 15,000 children in Lyari area, where law and order situation is quite worsening. Another 531 teams have also been constituted to cover 1, 31,000 children of Saddar town under the forthcoming campaign.
He said the managers of the campaign should bring on-board community leaders, members of the National and Sindh assemblies, public representatives, ex-town and union council Nazim.
