Government has imposed a ban on all type of motorbikes in Karachi and Quetta on 16th November (Friday). Interior Minister Rehman Malik announced this decision and said that there were threats of terrorism in Karachi and Quetta therefore this extreme decision was taken.
Rehman Malik said that the ban on bike will be from 6 AM to 7 PM. He also said that people mobile phone service may also be suspended on Friday if it is required. Recently pillion ridding was banned in Karachi as scores of people have been killed in the port city in the last seven days.
There are around 1.4 million registered motorcycles in Karachi and about 0.12 million in Quetta.
Update: Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Mushir Alam suspended a government’s order of ban on bike riding in Karachi.
