Lyari film festival will be held in September by the Nosach Film Academy in collaboration with the Women Development Foundation Pakistan (WDFP) and Karachi Youth Initiative (KYI). So the people of Lyari will have something to liven up their atmosphere and take their minds of the terrorist activities that had gripped their town.
The organizers will announce the exact date of the festival in late July but all Karachi based film makers have been urged to submit their work from 10th July for the festival. Te last date of submission will be 20th august. The event has been organized for the people of Lyari specifically and generally for the people of Karachi. The representative of the LFF, Adil Bizenjo stated that the festival is expected to take place in the third week of September.
The residents of Lyari will also show their films. Three categories of movies have been created; feature films, documentary films and short films. Duration of films will be from 5 minutes to 60 minutes. The festival will target the youth and maximum age limit of participants is set at 35 years. The main objective of the event is to transform the apparent image of Lyari and to promote the filmmakers as unconventional role models to inspire and encourage the youth of Lyari.
