KARACHI: Local body elections in 24 cantonment boards of the country will be held today after 17 years. According to sources, Election Commission has declared 310 polling stations very sensitive whereas 785 polling stations were declared to be normal.
According to Election Commission, 1151 candidates are taking part in the local body elections of cantonment boards. 541 candidates are partaking on party tickets whereas 610 candidates are partaking independently. 1225 polling stations have been set up for the polling.
According to details, 18 lacs and 49 thousands 424 voters will cast their votes. It is pertinent to mention here that there are 20 cant boards in Punjab, 8 cant boards in Sindh, 11 cant boards in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa whereas 4 cant boards in Baluchistan.
On the occasion of the elections, 5 thousands police constables will be deployed whereas patrolling police and elite force will patrol in the constituencies. Army will also be deployed at sensitive polling stations whereas sensitive polling stations will also be monitored through CCTV cameras.
