There are dozens of armed groups which are operating in multiple regions for India demanding for liberation from India. Among these regions the most affected areas are Kashmir, Nagaland and Assam. These insurgencies are most active and have majority support in their respective areas.
Kashmir: Kashmir is a disputed territory for which Pakistan & India fought battles for more than one occasion. In Indian occupied Kashmir an insurgency is active which aims for an independent Kashmir or succession to Pakistan. This has resulted in deaths of at least 70,000 people most of them were innocent civilians.
Nagaland: Naga groups comprises of different tribes which share common believes and ways of living. Their movement started as a movement for rights which later become an independence movement.
Assam: Assam insurgency is one of the most violent separatist movement which resulted in the deaths of around 30,000 people. From which 18,000 are considered to be civilian, Indian army is accused of using indiscriminate power which killed more civilians than rebels.
