WASHINGTON: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has met the director of US intelligence agency CIA, John Brennan. Both, Raheel Sharif and John Brennan discussed the security challenges being faced by the region and how to deal with these challenges.
The spokesperson of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa has written n social networking website “Twitter” that Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has visited the headquarters of CIA in Virginia State of USA.
Asim Saleem Bajwa wrote that Army Chief General Raheel Sharif not only discussed the intelligence issues in the meeting but also he emphasized on the constant peace in the region.
Asim Saleem Bajwa tweeted that the director of CIA, John Brennan appreciated the achievements of Pakistan in the operation Zarb-i-Azb and praised the positive effects of this in the region whereas General Raheel Sharif emphasized on the need of favorable environment in order to restore Afghan Peace talks again.
Asim Saleem Bajwa wrote that John Brennan praised the role of Pakistan in Afghan reconciliation process and discussed the opportunities of sustainable peace in the region in future. It is pertinent to mention here that General Raheel Sharif is on a five-day-visit of USA where he will meet political and military leadership.
