Karachi: Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria made a mistake to play cricket in the United States of America and also put at risk to the Cricket Association membership. After the news came into the media, the ICC’s administration has begun an investigation into the matter.
Danish Kaneria did violations of ICC as an intentionally or non-intentionally, Kaneria has life ban imposed by the English Cricket Board as all 106 member are restricted to obey this ban. Kaneria, who was banned in 2012, has not taken part in any cricket activity since then as under ICC anti-corruption laws, the life ban on the leg-spinner extends to all the full and associate members of the ICC.
Pakistan Cricket Board has already expressed ignorance on playing in the United States. Pakistani cricketer Nasir Jamshed, Wahab Riaz, Fawad Alam and Shahzaib Hasan are participating in the Friendship Cup T20 tournament in the U.S.
The 33-years old banned cricketer was invited for the match although he is not allowed to take part in any cricket activity under the terms of his life ban. Kaneria says the PCB has not shown him the same support as they were supporting the three Pakistan cricketers – Mohammad Amir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif.
Under new rules, an ECB ban means Kaneria, who took 261 Test wickets between 2000 and 2010 to become the most successful Pakistan spinner in history, is ineligible to play cricket under any authority affiliated with the International Cricket Council. Kaneria is making another attempt to have his ban overturned, filing a case, which starts on 11 April in the High Court’s Commercial Court, against the ECB.
