Karachi: The extra ordinary talented, left handed, opener batsman from the Caribbean soil, none other than Chris Gayle yesterday became the first ever batsman to hit a six off the very first ball of a Test match against Bangladesh. The flamboyant West Indian batsman Gayle hit a long six to debutant Sohag Gazi over long-on, scoring 18 from the first over of the first Test match.
However, Gayle did not last too long as he was knocked out by the 21-year-old off-spinner who took a quick revenge by having the dangerous batsman caught for 24. Meanwhile, West Indies reach 361-4 at the end of the first day of the first test.
According to the facts given by International Cricket Council, the first officially recognised test match was played on March 15, 1877 between England and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
