[junkie-alert style=”green”] Muslim festivals are based on Lunar Calendar which depends on the sighting of moon rather than whether the moon has risen or not. [/junkie-alert]
In Pakistan the sighting of moon becomes a controversy because a local committee sits in Peshawar’s historical Masjid Qasim Khan. Most of the people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) follow the decision of Masjid Qasim Khan which usually declare festivals one day earlier than government committee. Their decision is also based on sightings from different areas of KPK.
