Karachi: Artist Sultana Naheed has stated that international standard work is being currently produced in the field of arts. She was happy to state that the common public was also getting more and more aware of art. Sultana Naheed is associated with the National College of Arts in Lahore. She has conducted various groups and solo shows both locally and internationally. She works in portrait and landscape style. She further added that Pakistan possesses a tremendous talent in this field.
Sultana Naheed said that the young artists were deprived of ample opportunities to showcase their talent. These artists do not have the ample sources to take their work to prominent art facilities, which leaves their potential unexplored. But she was happy to see local art galleries making an effort to support the growth of art in Pakistan, but these art galleries also need to do business and they are more likely to promote the art of those artists whose work is more in demand. Previously, art was purchased as a piece of decoration by the people, but a change is being noticed in the general perception of art by the public and now they purchase art for their creativity and artistic lure.
Art should be appreciated by giving prominence to master pieces. Sultana said that calligraphic art was also striving to make its mark through the hard work of artists. It is admirable that these artists are thriving on their own without any teaching facility to support them, although Pakistan still has some of the greatest artists and calligraphers.
