ISLAMABAD: The Federal Interior Minister Chauhadry Nisar Ali Khan has said that the article 245 has been imposed in view of possible terrorism. The meeting of the National Assembly was chaired by the speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in which the imposition of article 245 in Islamabad was discussed. According to sources, the Federal Interior Minister Chauhadry Nisar fully supported the imposition of the article.
According to sources, Chauhadry Nisar said that the imposition of the article 245 was made in view of possible terrorism in Islamabad and this article would not be used in political war. He added that there was no relation of article 245 with any sit-in or political gathering and neither had any political aims behind this article.
Chauhadry Nisar Ali Khan further said that suggestions for the imposition of article 245 were asked again and again from the party and the Pakistan Army. He said that his party asked for legislative opinion on the article and then the article was imposed. Mr Nisar stated that the article 245 was imposed during the incident of Lal Mosque whereas the same article had been imposed for the 24 times only in two periods. He added that even in the previous periods, no approval for the imposition of the article was asked from the parliament.
The Interior Minister exclaimed with sorrow that the past was used for political aims. He added that his party did not hand Islamabad over to the Army, asking whether the Army could be seen in Islamabad. He also said if the circumstances were worsened, everybody unintentionally started to see towards the Army. He further said that the Army was called in Islamabad in order to cope with possible terrorism whereas it was also being demanded that the Army should be deployed in Karachi in order to deal with terrorists.
