For Yellow Cabs the advertisement inviting applications will be published on 15th July. This was announced by Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif after Punjab Cabinet gave formal approval to the Yellow Cab Scheme.
Around 4000 Bolans and 16000 Suzuki Mehrans will be distributed under the scheme.
Almost 20000 vehicles for Yellow Cabs would be distributed with 40 percent quota allocated to South Punjab against its 31 percent population.
In every month 2500 vehicles would be distributed among draw-winners. Therefore to distribute 20000 Yellow Cabs will be completed in eight months. Application forms will be available at the Punjab Transport Department website and all the branches of the Bank of Punjab.
Individuals with intermediate or equivalent academic qualification would be eligible to apply for this yellow cab scheme.
Successful applicants will have to pay 20 % down-payment at the time of delivery. The remaining amount would have to be paid through convenient monthly installments.
The Bank of Punjab is offering loans at extremely low markup to help the applicants.
Both men and women will be eligible to apply for the scheme.
The distribution process of yellow cabs would begin from second day of Eid from Multan, Rawalpindi and Dera Ghazi Khan.
These yellow cabs will be issued special number plates which will carry the district’s name.
