Ahmed Shehzad is a Pakistani cricketer who has been playing from the Pakistani side as a right handed opening batsman and also as a part time leg break bowler. His one day international debut was made on 24th April, 2009 against Australia and his T20 debut was on 7th May 2009, also against Australia. He has also been playing for Habib Bank Limited in the domestic cricket.
Ahmed Shehzad belongs to the pashtoon tribe and is a fluent speaker of Pashto and Urdu. He scored a boundary in his debut match against Australia before being ran-out. His was able to score 40 in the following match and was able to score 43 in his third match. He was able to make two boundaries in this innings. He was able to score 19 with 1 boundary in the final match.
Shehzad’s performance was not encouraging, but he was still fortunate enough to be picked up for the T20 squad in 2009 ICC World Twenty20. He was not able to give a satisfactory performance until the twenty20 international series against New Zealand, where he played instead of Shahid Afridi. He was able to score his maiden twenty20 half century, making 54 of 34 balls. This innings included 10 fours.
Shehzad’s career got a boost with his 115 in an ODI against New Zealand. He was able to score the highest score of 98, ever made by a Pakistani batsman in the T20 format.
