On its construction Makkah Clock Tower was the second tallest building after Burj Khalifa in Dubai, now it is the third tallest building in the world with a height of 601 meter.
On the top of the clock tower there is a beautiful crescent but do you know there is a room in that crescent? And that room is a small prayer area or mosque which was made for the construction workers during the construction. Now that room is also used for prayers by the maintenance workers, making it the world’s tallest mosque (Masjid).
To reach the prayer area you have to use the elevator to reach the base of the crescent, then you have to use the stairs or especially designed chair lift to travel 27 meters.
Abdel Abchrim was the project engineer who described the view from that height above the Kaaba was an emotional moment. He was the engineer who designed and installed the first advanced chair lift in the stair case of clock tower.
