London: British newspaper “The Independent” has revealed that the construction company based in Dubai, has handed over their striking employees to police. The employees were tortured by police as they had to face jail and then banished from the country. According to the newspaper, these employees were working at construction project of University.
According to details, they demanded an increase in their salary as their salary was about £ 121 per month. Construction project of University is a joint venture of BK Gulf and the British company Balfour Beatty construction in Dubai and both are busy these days in the construction of new campus of New York University in Dubai. Witnesses told the authorities that the company called the police against striking workers and asked the police to arrest them.
40 employees were subjected to the worst torture by the Dubai police for 9 days and then were deported from the country as the Pakistani were also included among those employees. Administration of New York University has apologized to the employees for mistreating. BK Gulf is a leading contractor company in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and building services and known for to provide value-added engineering. The company was established in 1978.
