Around 61 % Pakistanis believe that women shall dress themselves up, as per their desires. This result turned out when one of the media channels of Pakistan carried an online poll. University of Michigan first participated in carrying out the general survey aimed to recording opinions of the masses for the women dress code.
Muslims from seven Islamic countries (Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Lebanon and Turkey) were approached for the survey. 6 options were given to selecting the most appropriate dress for the Muslim women for being at public places. The women ranged from being in full veil to being without head scarf.
A week back, University of Michigan’s Population Studies Centre published the survey results. The survey was conducted for 5 days to which around 2235 people responded. 32 % of the Pakistanis called niqab the most appropriate dress for women while 22% believe a woman dress code shall be decided according to her own consent.
Except for Lebanese respondents, other Muslim countries people believed a woman should be covered modestly with face veil. Lebanese vowed to being dressed up without head scarf in public.
[junkie-alert style=”white”] Series of arguments have emerged on the social websites. People argue the results to be not true of this latest poll conducted by Pakistani media. Most of the Muslims across the globe believe, Muslim women shall observe the dress code as commanded by ALLAH ALMIGHTY, which is observing complete veil from Na-Mehrams.[/junkie-alert]
Islam does not permit a Muslim woman to roam freely in public without covering her head and body properly.
