London: England’s captain Alistair Cook unveiled the trophy of last edition of ICC Champions Trophy 2013 here at the trophy unveileing ceremony held by ICC on Thursday, foreing news media reported. The Champions Trophy will be played for more than 18 days. The group, knockout and final matches of the mega tournament are scheduled to play at The Oval, Cardiff and Edgbaston, which will also host the final on June 23, 2013.
As many as eight ODI teams will feature in the event with Pakistan, India, South Africa and West Indies are placed in Group B. Whereas Australia, New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka are placed in group A.
The mega ODI tournament began in 1998 and this will be the last Champions Trophy as ICC is keen that each format of the game will have just major event. Australia is the most successful team in the tournament, clinching the title record two times.
