The Chief Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Syed Munawar Hasan has said that arrival of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Pakistan aims to pressurize Pakistan to take concrete action against Haqqani Network in North Waziristan Agency.
While addressing a large gathering on Friday Prayer at Mansoora, he said that US was forcing Pakistan to commence a military operation in North Waziristan for its vested interests.
Appreciating the Pakistani military leadership stance that military operation would be of no use in North Waziristan, he said that the military leadership first time had taken a bold stand.
Syed Munawar Hasan said in order to hide its defeat in Afghanistan, US was laying stress on Pakistan to operate in North Waziristan. “However, the military leadership has realized the fact that they had made a mistake to shake hands US on War on Terror which will not be repeated,” he added.
He said that US media was propagating against Pakistan while demanding its government (US) to take steps herself against Haqqqani Network in Pakistani territory if Islamabad refused.
JI chief said that US Senate was emphasizing to sanction Pakistan’s military and civilian aid which was tantamount to following the policy of “carrot and stick.” He lauded that the military leadership had categorically said it would make no difference if US sanctioned Pak aid.
He said that Pakistan was not dependent on US aid. The nation was ready to pay the price for preserving its independence and sovereignty.
He said that JI many on occasions had told that any military operation in North Waziristan would result in a civil war in the country. The operation whether conducted by Pak army or US forces would bring serious harms to Pakistan, he added.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that US should recognize that she had lost in Afghanistan and refrain from drawing Pakistan anymore into the War on Terror, he added.
He demanded of the government to give US a clear message that Pakistan would not accept any dictation rather direct its policy itself.
Commenting on the statements from the government that madaris would be under interior ministry, he said that a secular and anti-religious lobby was propagating against religious sanctuaries.
He criticized the government saying that it was out of the orbit of interior ministry, only education ministry could do it. He appealed to the madaris administration that they should not bear any pressure or dictation from the government with regard to make any change in their system and curriculum. The government should avoid taking any such steps on the dictation of US lobby, he warned.
