Karachi: Train march is need of the hour and unavoidable for holding transparent elections and lasting peace in the city. This was stated by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Muhammad Hussain Mahenti while addressing a meeting held at Idara-e-Noor Haq in connection of reviewing the arrangements of train march. On the occasion, Mahenti said the process of the verification of electoral rolls in the absence of army personnel has definitely given strength to forged powers.
“By the train march, pressure is to be built on Election Commissioner to implement over the verdict of Supreme Court in its true spirit”, Mahenti added. He said the people of city have been held hostage in the hands of ‘Thapa Mafia’ and extortionists for last five years and the masses should come forward and play their due role by using their right of vote in true sense. “The economical hub of the country is being made the safe heaven for target killers, extortionists and Thapa mafia and the people are in tremendous mental agony owing to the unabated target killing incidents”, he added.
Mahenti informed 2306 persons have been killed in target killing incidents in the year 2012, but unfortunately none of the arrest could be made in t his regard. Similarly, the flight of capital is being continued by business community due to extortion chit by extortion mafia, he added.
Ameer JI Karachi further said the participants of train march at the end of it will move towards Election Commission (EC) Office and will present the memorandum to the Chief Election Commission in connection of verification of electoral rolls.
General Secretary JI Karachi Naseem Siddiqui, Naib Ameers Barjees Ahmed, Raja Arif Sultan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Nasrullah Khan Shajih, Dr Abdul Wasay Shakir, Syed Muhammad Iqbal, Secretary Information Zahid Askari and others were also present on the occasion.
