PESHAWAR: Three Persons including 2 FC officials and a woman were killed and 14 others were seriously injured in suicide attack on Sher Shah Suri Road before the railway station here early in the morning. The deceased and the injured were shifted to lady reading hospital. The death toll may increase, sources concerned.
The incident took place near press club where governor house and other sensitive buildings are situated. According to sources, an FC vehicle was also damaged in the attack. Fire broke out on the site which the fire tenders were trying to quench. Police and law enforcement agencies reached on the site.
According to sources, the suicide attacker wanted to target the FC’s vehicle. The attacker came into ALTO car whereas 44 kilograms of explosive material was used in the attack. The blast damaged various buildings nearby whereas one motorcycle and one rickshaw were also damaged in the blast. According to rescue sources, emergency has been imposed in the lady reading hospital.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain and ANP’s president Asfandyar Wali Khan have condemned the suicide attack in Peshawar. Altaf Hussain said that it was the worst action of terrorists against the FC and those involved in the attack must be brought into book soon. He prayed for the victims of the blast and demanded of the federal and provincial governments to arrest the terrorists forthwith.
Asfandyar Wali Khan said that such activities could not weaken the public and the security forces’ courage, adding that those who wanted to destroy the peace of Pakistan could not be well wisher of the country. He criticized on the provincial government that the rulers were sitting in Islamabad in order to conquer it whereas they had no care for the public who were suffering from terrorism.
