Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui ordered Pakistan Broadcasting Association (PBA) and Pakistan Electronic Media Regular Authority (PEMRA) to file a report based on suggestions for controlling the content of TV channels and eliminating indecent broadcast.
Justice Shaukat raised questions on the morning shows which are not following the ethical code which were issued by PEMRA. He said that the content is against our culture and tradition.
Chairman of PEMRA Absar Alam submitted a report about the actions that PEMRA have taken against such content and TV Channels. He said that 380 actions have been taken against private channels for unethical content.
Report said that transmission for 6 different channels were suspended which includes Neo TV, Channel 24, Urdu-1, Silver Screen & Din TV. Notices were issued to Geo TV, ARY and Channel 24 while action was also taken against Express News, Dawn News, Abb Tak, Channel 92 & News One.
Supreme Court adjourned the case and ordered the submission of report within a fortnight.
