Beijing: Harbin city of northeast China, got enveloped in the acrid clouds, forming thick layer of smog through out and bringing the city’s life to an ultimate halt with the closure of schools, airports making transports difficult to move, thus disabling the people to carry on with their daily chaos.
The char-coal smoke spread all over the area, causing choking problems to the local people. CCTV reports several incidents in the midst of darkness that took over as the blank blanket covered the city. Flights, long-distance take buses, public transport, high ways, hospital admissions along with the closure of schools and banks followed after the scene.
The environmental challenge appeared as result of burning the char-coals to combat the freezing temperature across the country. On calculation the particles of the matter were found to be 2.5 PM that is to say 1000 micrograms per cubic meters, which is 40 times higher to what has been recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) a risk to the health of a common man.
