Lahore: A day after former Test fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar showed keen interest in taking Pakistan’s head bowling coach spot, the Pakistan Cricket Board says no to the world’s fastest bowler saying Shoaib was not suitable due to lack of qualifications as a ‘professional coach’.
Earlier, while talking to media persons in Lahore on Thursday, Shoaib expressed that he will jump at the opportunity if the PCB approached him. However, a member of the committee hunting for a new bowling coach said, “Akhtar doesn’t meet the criteria set out for the job.”
It is to mention here that Pakistan Cricket Team is without a coach since Aaqib Javed resigned from the post to take up UAE’s head coach spot after the series against England earlier this year. Three-member committee comprising Zaheer Abbas, Intikhab Alam and Colonel Naushad Ali is looking for a new coach for National team’s bowling department.
