Karachi: Thousands of Australian sheeps contaminated with scabby mouth disease have made their way into the metropolis, local media reported Thursday. The ship that was not even scheduled to travel to Pakistan unloaded their infected sheeps in the country because it was not allowed to do so in Bahrain which was its original destination.
Authorities in Bahrain have discovered traces of scabby mouth disease and have refused to ship to unload 22,000 sheep. Apart from Bahrain 53,000 sheep were unloaded in Qatar and Oman.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for ports and shipping Babar Ghauri has ordered an investigation into how the sheep were allowed to be unloaded in Karachi and he has directed DG ports and shipping to submit the report within three days.
