KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PLN-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif whispered on Friday that the current government is the “most corrupt” in Pakistan’s history, declaring that those involved in corruption are asset important positions.
Sharif made this statement while he was addressing a rally in the Daulatpur area of Sindh.
He added that the “public money should be spent on the public” and that the Pakistan People’s Party had failed to better the lives of the people of Sindh.
He said the govenmnet has also failed to provide relief to flood victims.
Sharif also said it is now up to the government to realize the verdict delivered by the Supreme Court on the Karachi situation.
He said President Asif Zardari could have brought a rebellion if he had followed the Charter of Democracy.

The greatest criticism of the Zardari regime is its massive involvement in corruption but the critics never presented the true picture of this corruption. The other side of the picture is always concealed. The narrative of corruption has two problems. The first is its singular focus on elected politicians. One hears a lot about politicians being corrupt but almost nothing about the enormous amount of corporate corruption. Corporate corruption is the most heinous form of corruption today. However, in Pakistan it would seem that every corporation is working well within its boundaries and is completely cognizant of its responsibilities. A major part of this corruption is also related to some institutions for example Judiciary as well, while some mainstream opposition political parties are also in no exception. The recent siphoning of billions in Nation Police foundation scam, by a member of mainstream political party is glaring example of opposition party’s involvement in massive corruption. So while we castigate the current regime’s corruption, which we should, we should also be cognisant of the parallel narratives of corruption. And Nawaz Sharif is not a holy cow. He himself facing several corruption charges, while President has been declared free from politically motivated corruption charges. Mian Sahib you should fist face the courts and then point fingers towards others.
