Karachi: On the holy occasion of Chelum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) schools and colleges will remain close tomorrow in the city. Chelum would be observed nation wide tomorrow on 3 of January. Holy processions are held on this day by the respective sects. As part of the day, the school and colleges will remain closed. However, offices and banks would have working day.
Markets and shopping malls would be open, but less public is seen on the street on this day accept those who do religious practices.
Frequent holidays and strikes in the country in the name of mourning days, day celebration and others adversely affect the socio-economic set up of the society. Observance of such holidays results in immense loss of studies to the students. While talking to the reporter, mother of 15 year old Rehan said that holidays bring loss to the students while profiting the schools and the transporters who charge fee for the whole month. “Government should devise proper system before calling for any strike and holidays keeping in concern the activities and happenings.”
As part of the security plan, ban has been imposed in the city of Lahore on pillion riding. Since most of the cities are hit by bomb blasts on such holy occasions.
