Saudi billionaire tycoon prince Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has announced that the world longest tower will be built in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. Kingdom Tower which was previously known as Mile High Tower will surpass Dubai’s 828-meter-tall Burj Khalifa (which at present is tallest building of the world) by 173 meters
The owner of Kingdom Holding Co. announced that the 1 kilo meter (1000 meter) sky scrapper building will be built by Bin Laden Group at a cost of 1.23 billion dollars.
Adrian Smith of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture is architecture of the building. Adrian Smith was the Design Partner at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP (SOM) for the Burj Khalifa and he was also architect of Jin Mao Tower which is in Shanghai.
The owners Kingdom Holding has signed a development agreement with Emaar Properties. Emaar was also developer of Burj Khalifa.
It has been announced that the tallest building will be completed in five years and the building will be completed in 2017.
The Abraj Al-Bait Towers (601 meters) also known as the Mecca Royal Hotel Clock Tower located near Masjid al-Haram will be completed in 2012
