Professor Sarosh Hashmat Lodi has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of NED University replacing Prof Mohammed Afzal Haque on Wednesday. The appointment was made by Governor of Sindh who has the power of appointing VC of all public sector universities.
APP reported that Prof Sarosh Hashmat has said that his priority will be to consolidate the functions and remove the financial restraints of the university which is affecting its performance.
Before becoming VC Prof Sarosh served as the dean of Civil Engineering & Architecture Department for 7 years. He started his career at NED University as a Lecturer in 1988 and was gradually promoted after his performance in these 29 years.
He also completed his BE from NED University and then did masters from Oregon State University of United States of America (USA). He also has a PhD from Heriot-Watt University of UK.
He worked on several research and publications and his papers have appeared in several international journals. He has done extensive work on topics related to tectonic plates, earthquakes and tsunami
