Pakistan cricket team selectors choose wicket-keeper Sarfraz Ahmed over Adnan Akmal for the tour of South Africa. Many former cricketers criticize this decision of selectors as Adnan Akmal was regular member of Test team since 2010 and was also giving above average performance.
Adnan Akmal performance at domestic level was also excellent at the time of team selection for South African tour. He had scores of 85, 86* and 71 runs in first class matches.
Pakistan have played two Test matches till now and Sarfraz Ahmed has not yet scored 15+ run in any innings. In the first Test match he scored 2 and 6 runs and took five catches played at New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. In the second Test match at Newlands, Cape Town he scored 13 and 5 and took two catches in the match.
If we compare Sarfraz Ahmed domestic career with Adnan Akmal it is far better as Sarfraz averages 40.97 and Adnan average us 26.12 but Adnan Akmal’s current form is exceptionally good. He recently scored his highest first class score of 149*.
Now it is hoped that if Sarfraz fails in the last test match against South African, Adnan will be selected for the next test series.
