KARACHI: The hearing of Sarfaraz Shah Murder case has been adjourned without any proceeding today. According to sources, the hearing of Sarfaraz Shah Murder case was to take place in Supreme Court Karachi registry but it was adjourned without any proceeding.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sindh High Court issued a detailed verdict of Sarfaraz Shah Murder case in which it was stated that the murder of Sarfaraz Shah was the high example of law violation by the rangers, adding that law enforcement agencies’ work was to secure the lives of public, not to kill them.
In the Sindh High Court’s written verdict, the accused rangers personnel’s appeals against sentences were rejected whereas the rangers personnel Shahid Zafar’s death penalty and other five personnel’s life imprisonments were maintained while the accused Liaquat Ali was absolved.
It was stated in the verdict that the deceased Sarfaraz was not shifted to hospital in time due to which he lost his life. The rangers in accordance with the law have no authority to shoot an accused unless the accused attacked on them. This act of rangers, doubtless, arose the feeling of insecurity. An unarmed man was shot dead who was begging for his life.
The verdict further stated that this case fulfilled all the requirements of anti-violence laws, no rangers personnel tried to save the life of Sarfaraz after shooting, adding that in view of the evidences, the deceased had no opportunity to run away or to attack on the rangers. Apparently it seemed that the rangers wanted to kill Sarfaraz. The rangers’ personnel had filed an appeal against their sentences in the Supreme Court and the hearing of their case was to take place today which was adjourned without any proceeding.
