The recent defeat of the Pakistani women team at the hands of the Bangladeshi team will be a great smudge on the image of the Pakistani captain Sana Mir. The Pakistani women’s team were barely able to reach the target of 152 set by the Bangladeshi team. Sana Mir’s captaincy will be put into question after this performance of the Pakistani women’s team.
Bangladeshi performance was helped by the key performance of Rumana Ahmed and Lala Mondal to lead Bangladesh to a 43 run victory. The contest between the two teams was low scoring with Ahmed making 44 in the middle order making her the highest scorer.
Rumana Ahmed controlled one side of the innings to drag her team to 100, as Bangladesh had slumped to 33 for 4. Shaila Sharmin’s 22 led Bangladesh to 133 for 6. After her dismissal, the innings was brought to an end. Bangladesh managed to make 152 in 49.3 overs at end.
The score seemed achievable for Pakistan, but its terrible start washed away all hopes. The Pakistani’s were limited to 63 for 8 by Lata Mondal and Jahanara Alam. Asmavia Iqbal’s 40 at number 8 saved Pakistan from a humiliating defeat as they were able to pass a score of 100, to only reach 109 in 44.1 overs.
