The people killed in road accidents in UK has fallen below 2000 which is the record low since the records began in 1926. The death toll for 2010 was 1,857 and in 2009 it was 2222, a 16 per cent drop from 2009 to 2010 and the seventh consecutive annual fall.
Although deaths and injuries fell significantly for motorists, motorcyclists and pedestrians; the number of cyclists killed increased for a third consecutive year. Deaths rose by 7 per cent from 104 in 2009 to 111 last year.
