The Rashid Latif Cricket Academy has announced the RLCA T20 Departmental Cricket tournament which will start from September 28. The tournament is the first departmental tournament of this scale organized by the academy and the decision was made when PCB decided not to hold their own departmental T20 tournament.
Rashid Latif, former wicket keeper batsman for Pakistan who is also the chief organizer made the announcement in a media press conference. He said that RLCA had decided to fill the gap left by the PCB by cancelling their departmental T20 tournament. He was confident of the tournament’s success as many big name players would also be taking part.
Rashid Latif said they were looking for title sponsors for which negotiations were already underway. The winning prize at the tournament will be a handsome Rs 1 million while half a million rupees will be given to the runners-up. The tournament will be held at the Korangi stadium under lights and will begin after the final of the regional T20 cup being held at the National Stadium Karachi.
The tournament has been approved by the PCB and will include eight grade-I and eight grade-2 department teams. Established names on the roster include National Bank, HBL, State Bank, SSGC, Candyland and Omar Associate teams.
