London: The Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Altaf Hussain said that the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah belonged to Ismaili faction initially which he left later and converted into Bohra Shia Ithna-Ashari group. During a meeting with scholars at MQM International Secretariat London, Altaf Hussain urged the historians to note that it is already been proved from the historical facts that the founder of the country first practiced Ismaili faith but in 1898 Quaid-e-Azam submitted an Affidavit in Mumbai’s magistrate court where he stated the Sect of his family was Islamili from the beginning but now he and his sister Fatimah are converting into Ithna-Ashari sect of faith.
Altaf Hussain also referred a book ‘Quaid as I knew Him’ of QA’s close friend Abul Hasan Ispahani for further details and study of this case. MQM Chief said it is a historical fact that Quaid-e-Azam was the member of Khoja group and give dontations for it regularly. When Jinnah died in 1948 his body was bathed by Haji Kalu who himself was Khoja Shia Ithna-Ashari, he said.
Hussain further claimed that two funeral prayers were offered for Jinnah, first by Shia religious scholar Molana Anees ul Hasnain and other by Allama Shabbir Ahmed Usmani.
The only point to be raised here is this sort of discussion significant anymore? Do the people of Pakistan have anything to do with the sect and personal belief of Mohammad Ali Jinnah? Was Pakistan created on the name of Allah and the slogan of Kalma La’ilaaha Illallah or the slogans of several sects? Are we commanded to follow the set of disciplines and personal faiths of Jinnah/Liaqat/Ayub/ZA Bhutto/Benazir/Nawaz/ Musharraf and Zardari or the true belief and commandments of Islam?
If personality following and personal beliefs are so much important then we demand the Chief of MQM to disclose his own sect, his belief and his affiliation with specific religious group. We demand him to disclose his sect openly either he is Deobandi, Barelvi, Shia, Salfi, Wahabi, Bohri, Agha Khani, Tauheedi, Ahle Hadith or what. We, however, advise the MQM Chief to avoid creating disunity among the Muslims of Pakistan by launching worthless debate in an already much confused society.

Qaui-azam was a great leader born in a muslim (shia Ismilai) family. Irrespective of his sect with whome he was belong to we should be proud that he was leader indead. His personality should not be politisized at all. However, no one should discuss his sect and must me clear that he was a muslim leader although a number of people still use for him Kafir Azam and it is astonishing. All the sect under shia such as Athna Ashri, Bohra and Ismilies are foillower of Fiqa jafaria and Ahletbait. No one should be worry even if was suni. But being citizen of the country we should pray for him and his personality should not be critisized. No doubt he was following Fiqa Jafaria by birth (shia Ismailai).

This is not the first time that shia and sunni are claiming some one of the monority sect to be their own. Bu ali sina is another example who was ismaili and now ironically both shia and sunni claim him to be theirs. same goes to Nasir ud din Tusi.
