Extra curriculum activities and sports are very important factors in grooming youth because of which Punjab Government established a dedicated department ‘Youth Affairs, Sports, Archeology & Tourism (YSAT) Department’.
One of the most renowned events that is held annually by PYSAT is the Punjab Youth Festival. The first festival was held in the provincial capital of Lahore in 2012 in which thousands of student participated in dozens of games.
YSAT has taken dozens of initiatives not only related to youth but also to promote tourism in Punjab and archeology to protect and explain the history of this land. The vision and objective of YSAT is:
- Building a healthy society through sports
- Preserving the cultural heritage of Punjab
- Using cultural & historical heritage of Punjab to promote economic growth in the province
- Providing entertainment facilities to promote tourism in the province
In the field of sports, it provided coaching & training facilities for players and by stabling sports academies and organizing sports events.
The cultural, heritage & historical work will not only increase tourism in the province but will also create new career & job opportunities for entrepreneurs and workers alike. At least 405 sites & monuments are being managed while dozens of seminars and trainings were held to revive traditional crafts.
Punjab Heritage was also founded with the same purpose. In multiple areas archaeological surveys were conducted and preservation of heritage was made possible.
Cholistan Jeep Rally, Annual Vintage car show, Lahore Festival of Marching Bands and other entertainment events were also held to promote domestic tourism.

Under PYSAT Punjab Government also established a dedicated helpline for youth to counsel and support them in emotional, mental & physical related issues. Trained, qualified and experienced counselors are available on the helpline to help the youth for personal, emotional or career related queries.
This initiative not only helps students psychologically but also creates awareness and gives them guidance in important decisions of their life.
