Punjab Food Authority (PFA) is active once again to stop unhygienic food being served to the people of Punjab. This time they are cracking down on Shadi Halls (Lawns).
PFA issued notices to wedding halls and catering services that after 15th July only licensed food & catering service providers will be allowed to continue their business.
The notification was issued for five districts of Punjab which include Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi & Faisalabad.
License will be given after checking the hygiene of the food being prepared, the location and the staff. Lapse in any matter will result in license rejection. This step is being taken after it was revealed that leftovers from hotels are being served in these wedding lawns.
Punjab Food Act 2011 also restricts food services only to license holders otherwise it may result in imprisonment or fine up to 500,000.
