Karachi: Veteran politician and senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Professor Ghafoor Ahmed has laid to rest in Sakhi Hassan Graveyard here today. Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Munawar Hasan led the funeral prayer of the veteran politician at new MA Jinnah Road. Thousands of people belonging to different walks of life attended the funeral prayers, while large numbers of JI workers were also present on the occasion. On the occasion, JI Ameer Munawar Hasan and former Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmed paid glowing homage to Prof Ghafoor Ahmed against his services to the nation.
Addressing on the occasion, Munawar Hasan, while highlighting the character of Prof Ghafoor said he was a promising personality and always preferred to follow the policy of reconciliation. JI Ameer said the Prof Ghafoor was an honor to take part in making the Constitution of 1973 while he was always being upfront in ‘Khatam-e-Nabuwat’ Tehreek. He prayed Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal heaven.
On the occasion, Qazi Hussain Ahmed said the top priority of Prof Ghafoor was to uplift Islam and he spent his entire life for the said noble cause. Chief Difa-e-Pakistan Council Maulana Sami-ul-Haq, Naib Ameer JI Prof Khursheed Ahmed, Secretary JI Liaquat Baloch, former City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, JI Sindh Ameer Mairaj-ul-Huda, JI Karachi Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mahenti, Secretary Information Zahid Askari, Director Public Relations Sarfaraz Ahmed and other leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami were attened the funeral prayers. A MQM delegation comprising Aamir Khan, Kanwar Khalid Younus, Nadeem Maqbool and other attened the funeral prayers.
Among other leaders Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi, Shaikh Rasheed, Ghous Ali Shah, Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, Imtiaz Shaikh Mufti Usman Yar Khan and Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed were also attended the funeral prayers of Professor Ghafoor Ahmed.
