The sudden decrease in the value of the US Dollar compared to the Pak Rupee delighted many Pakistanis but raised the eyebrows of most. Especially in the current environment of economic instability it came as a huge surprise. Then it came to light that this change was due to the financial assistance worth $. 1.5 billion from a friendly country. The identity of this friend still remains a mystery.
President Mamnoon Hussain also abstained from naming the mysterious friend, due to strategic reasons. He seemed annoyed over the continued criticism of this measure saying that the government hadn’t taken the money from a smuggler but a friendly country had given it to improve the economy of the country.
President Mamnoon Hussain said that people, especially the media are criticizing and making fun of this measure instead of looking at the benefits it holds for Pakistan. He said it was the role of the media to spread positivity instead of negating every good step taken by the government.
He also said that the bill of debts had been greatly reduced from the initial $14800 billion when the new government took charge. The government was working hard to improve the economic conditions of the country and as a result foreign countries were now willing to invest in Pakistan.
