The Black caps officially tweeted stating that they were waiting for a response from the Pakistani team and the cricket family on the course of action regarding the match between New Zealand and Pakistan. This statement left many cricket fans perturbed about the situation of the Pakistani cricket board, who had clarified their stance earlier on this matter. According to sources, the New Zealand cricket team and ICC did not agree on postponing the match, when the PCB requested them to do so, due to the unfortunate event that took place at the Peshawar army public school.
The Pakistani cricket team had asked to postpone the match to express their remorse regarding the tragic event that took place at the Peshawar school, leaving more than 150 innocent martyred at the hands of terrorists. PCB chairman, Shehryar Khan had expressed earlier that, PCB had started negotiations on Wednesday morning to postpone the fourth one-day international in the UAE for a day.
The ICC and the New Zealand cricket team didn’t agree to this, as they were not willing to play the matches back to back, as the postponed match would have been shifted to Thursday, while the final match would have been played on Friday. The ICC and the New Zealand cricket team were not willing to upset their schedule and said that due to this one change, several other changes would also have to be made. The match between the Pakistan ‘A’ and Kenya was however postponed to Friday, instead of Thursday.
The Pakistan cricket team had agreed to wear black armbands and observed a minute silence before starting the match. It must be mentioned that a similar situation had occurred with New Zealand, when they had requested to postpone the match on the death of Phil Hughes, while Pakistan was willing to play the match with black armbands, but the match was still postponed. The same was expected on this situation.
Now, the statement on black caps has further raised eyebrows, making Pakistani’s think if PCB had taken a stance at all, over postponing the match. How come the match wasn’t postponed and how come the blackcap’s official page tweets that they were waiting for a response from the Pakistani team. This matter should be resolved and if the statement isn’t true, then PCB should clarify its stance and immediately have the statement rectified, but so far there has been no response.
