It was one of most surprising news to hear that captain of Pakistan’s blind cricket team, Zeeshan Abbasi was given a drink of acid during breakfast in Bangalore, India. Zeeshan was rushed to a local hospital, however now he is stable and has been discharged from the hotel. PCB must take concrete step on this shameful incident in India and must lodge a strong protest over this issue with Indian authorities and must ask for investigation.
G.K. Mahantesh General, Secretary of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) and founder of the Samarthanam Turst for the Disabled has termed the incident as “shocking and embarrassing”. Neha Gairola, Senior Food and Beverage Manager of the hotel, said that the cleaning staff left the “diluted soap solution” on table which Zeeshan Abbasi drunk. Neha Gairola said that the staff member responsible-e for this has been terminated.
Pakistan’s blind cricket team manager has rubbished media reports that termed the incident “an accident.” There is a possibility that someone have deliberately placed acid in bottle to whether see that Pakistan captain is blind or not. Pakistan blind cricket team is performing excellently in the ongoing T20 Blind Cricket World Cup therefore someone may have doubt that whether Pakistan blind cricketers are really blind are not.
International Cricket Council (ICC) should also look into the matter and it is hoped that ICC will not say that this issue is out of their jurisdiction which they mostly do when it comes to Indian cricket.
Indian authorities should also apologies for this shameful incident and if investigation is not done properly than Pakistan Cricket Board should postpone Pakistan cricket team tour to India as these type o incident may happen again.
