Breaking stereo types is not an easy task but one Pakistani University is willing to do by appointing a transgender lecturer.
Aisha Mughal was recently appointed as Pakistan’s first transgender teacher & lecturer in the Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. Though the lecturer may face some difficulties at the start but the step by administration is being appreciated.
She has been appointed for the Department of Gender in the Quaid-i-Azam, University. It is a positive step taken in one of the safest part of Pakistan. She will teach gender studies in the campus.
Another considerable thing is that Aisha Mughal’s appointment was based on merit, this shows that despite constraints and rejection from parts of society transgender are making progress to become a healthy segment of society.
