After the initiative of Pakistan Cricket Board for introducing Pakistan Super League, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has also planned to launch Pakistan Hockey League. According to the media reports, first ever hockey league of Pakistan will be launched in the month of November, this year. In a recent interview, Secretary of PHF Shahbaz Ahmed revealed that the professional domestic hockey league of Pakistan will be started in November 2016, in which leading players from all over the world including India will participate.
During his interview, Shahbaz Ahmed said that initial preparations are being made for Pakistan Hockey League and it is expected that it will be finalized by the end of February or in the beginning of March. He said that the golden period of Pakistan hockey would be returned after this initiative. Shahbaz Ahmed said that Pakistan Hockey League would be helpful in getting back to our rule in this sport. He said that we will try to bring all the popular international players in Pakistan but it is not expected in the first season.
Shahbaz Ahmed also hoped that players from India, Malaysia, Korea and other Asian countries will participate in Pakistan Hockey League.
